The sources of prayer

Scripture, the liturgy, faith, hope, charity, and the events of daily life nourish prayer. Reading a short biblical passage attentively can become a conversation with God rather than only an information exercise. The Church’s common prayer supplies language when personal words are difficult. Ordinary work, encounters, joys, and grief can also become occasions for attention and thanksgiving.
