Addressing our Father

Calling God Father rests on the relationship Jesus shares with his disciples, not on projecting every human family experience onto God. Our names a communion that resists private possession of God or exclusion of others. In heaven points to God’s majesty and presence rather than a physical address. Trust and reverence belong together in this opening address.
