Professing the faith

The Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed summarize the Church’s profession of faith. Their statements connect belief in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with creation, redemption, the Church, and eternal life. Creeds are confessed in worship and baptismal life. Their concise language grew through real controversies, so unfamiliar phrases deserve historical explanation rather than mere repetition.
