Marriage and family

Catholic marriage is a covenant of a man and a woman ordered to their good and to the welcome and education of children. A valid marriage between baptized persons is sacramental. Fidelity, permanence, free consent, and openness to life are central. Family life includes real difficulties; annulment, separation for safety, and pastoral accompaniment require distinctions that a short introduction cannot settle for an individual couple.
