Difficulty and perseverance in prayer

Distraction, dryness, discouragement, and unanswered petitions are familiar difficulties in prayer. They do not by themselves show that God has abandoned someone. Perseverance involves returning attention gently, examining expectations, and asking for help when needed. Trust differs from demanding a visible result. Spiritual practices should also respect mental health and the need for appropriate human and professional support.
