Library introduction · Catechism 988–1019

Death and resurrection of the body

Christian hope concerns the whole person. Death separates body and soul, but the final hope is bodily resurrection and renewed communion with God, not permanent escape from embodiment. This shapes reverence for the dying and the bodies of the dead. The resurrection of Christ is the foundation for this hope rather than a detailed picture of every feature of life beyond death.
