Mary and the incarnation

Mary’s role is inseparable from Christ. Her free response to God, virginal motherhood, and unique preparation by grace serve the incarnation. Calling her Mother of God affirms the identity of the child she bore; it does not mean she originated the divine nature. The Immaculate Conception concerns Mary’s own beginning, not Jesus’ virginal conception.
