Medieval Christianity
Medieval Christianity includes monastic reform, universities, scholastic theology, popular devotion, art, and complex relations between religious and political authority. It also includes coercion, conflict, and institutional failures. Neither a golden-age picture nor a story of uninterrupted decline does justice to its variety. Study particular places, centuries, and sources before making general claims about the period.
