Evil, suffering and providence

Select a passage to highlight, add a note, or link it to a learning path.

The problem of evil asks how a good and almighty God relates to suffering and wrongdoing. Catholic reflection brings together creation, freedom, providence, the cross, and resurrection hope, without claiming to explain every particular tragedy. A philosophical response does not replace compassionate presence. Listening, practical help, and opposition to injustice are themselves necessary parts of a faithful response.
