Early Christian author · c. AD 100–165
Justin Martyr
Justin was a Gentile philosopher from Flavia Neapolis (modern Nablus) who converted to Christianity and became one of the earliest Christian apologists, addressing his First Apology to the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius around AD 155 in defense of the Christian faith, including one of the earliest detailed descriptions of the Eucharistic liturgy outside the New Testament. He was beheaded in Rome for his faith under the prefect Junius Rusticus.
