Church Father · c. AD 100–160 (disputed; the Muratorian Fragment places its author as brother of Pope Pius I, c. 140–154, but internal evidence has been read as pointing earlier)
Hermas
Author of The Shepherd (Visions, Mandates, Similitudes), an apocalyptic-allegorical work on repentance that circulated widely enough to be read in some churches' worship for centuries, though never admitted to the New Testament canon. His identity and exact date remain genuinely disputed among scholars — do not treat either as settled.
