Church Father · c. AD 313–386
Cyril of Jerusalem
Bishop of Jerusalem; his Catechetical Lectures are a primary source for 4th-century baptismal and Eucharistic practice and instruction, delivered to candidates preparing for baptism. The authorship of the five "Mystagogic" Lectures on the sacraments (18-23 in this numbering) is disputed by some scholars, who attribute them instead to his successor John II of Jerusalem — note this when treating them as Cyril's own words specifically.
