Apostolic Father · fl. c. AD 96 (traditional; the letter itself is anonymous as to author)
Clement of Rome
Clement was, according to early tradition (Irenaeus, Against Heresies 3.3.3), the fourth Bishop of Rome. He is best known as the author of 1 Clement, a letter written to the church at Corinth to address a dispute over the removal of its presbyters, making it one of the earliest Christian documents outside the New Testament.
